One Big Bin
One of the best services also seems to be one of the best kept secrets. Automatic recycling through your garbage can.
The program began in 1995, but many people don't realize the city's garbage pick up goes directly to the Western Placer Waste Management Authority's (WPWMA) Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) for recycling. The facility takes all the garbage from Lincoln and surrounding communities, sorting first by machine then manually, to recover recyclable materials. Instead of separating recyclables into the blue bags at home, residents simply place all recyclables into their one big bin, the city-provided garbage container, and MRF will do the rest.
