Recycling Programs

Cardboard Recycling
Cardboard may be recycled at the Western Placer Materials Recovery Facility at 3033 Fiddyment Road at no cost to Lincoln residents.

Drop Box Recycling
Newspaper, glass, and plastic bottle may be recycled at locations throughout Lincoln. Go here for more information about drop box recycling or use the link on the left.

Dry Cell Battery
It is illegal to throw out dry cell batteries in your garbage container. Lincoln residents can drop off used dry cell batteries at designated locations throughout the City.

For a list of local businesses who are hosting dry cell battery recycling collection, go here for the various drop-off locations.

One Big Bin
One of the best services also seems to be one of the best kept secrets. Automatic recycling through your garbage can.

The program began in 1995, but many people don't realize the city's garbage pick up goes directly to the Western Placer Waste Management Authority's (WPWMA) Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) for recycling. The facility takes all the garbage from Lincoln and surrounding communities, sorting first by machine then manually, to recover recyclable materials. Instead of separating recyclables into the blue bags at home, residents simply place all recyclables into their one big bin, the city-provided garbage container, and MRF will do the rest.

Please see the One Big Bin download document and link below for more information about the One Big Bin campaign.
