The City Of Lincoln has an historic commitment to Libraries. Soon after being established in 1859 a Reading Room was created in Lincoln. This Room moved around a lot and was once housed in the Sandwich Alley building on Fifth. In 1904 the city began supporting the Reading Room with tax funds.

Soon after in 1906 the first Library Board was established. One of the first Board actions was to send off an application to Andrew Carnegie for funding a new library. The funding was granted and the Carnegie Library opened 1909. The building was constructed with clay brick from Gladding McBean clay factory.

More recently The Twelve Bridges Library opened October 20, 2007. Planning for the new collaborative joint-use facility at Twelve Bridges began in 2000 with our partners Sierra College and Western Placer Unified School District. This partnership took action and received a proposition 14 grant that provided a substantial portion of construction costs. This facility is approximately 40,000 square feet and can hold as many as 175,000 books. It also has enough space to provide access to other materials including magazines, national newspapers, DVDs, CDs, and Audiobooks. This facility also has over 30 public access computers.

Now the citizens have two libraries to provide access to popular collections, school related resources, story times, and computers for word processing and internet access.
