Lincoln Fire Department

The City of Lincoln Fire department is a dynamic agency full of new challenges. On October 1st, 2001, the Lincoln Fire Department started the transition to a paid 24-hour, all risk fire department. Since that time, the city was one of the fastest growing cities in America with an increase in population of over 236% pushing the population over 41,000 citizens.

The economic downturn has effected levels of service. The department is currently operating out of two fulltime stations even though the City has three stations; one station has been closed due to budget cuts. The department has 24 full-time personnel (including three chief officers) and 8 volunteers/reserves.

The rapid growth of the city has brought a higher call volume that is still growing every year. Due to the growth, new equipment and stations have been provided to the department, including new breathing apparatus and two fire engines.

Lincoln Fire Department is a young, motivated department striving for excellence to provide the best service to the citizens of this city.
